Living In the Now Therapy

Living in the now is a life-changing practice. It will help you slow down and think clearly.

This exercise will help you bring your mind and body together in one place to expand your ability to solve your problems and reduce stress.

Overworking our minds is very destructive; it does more harm than good.

Living in the now is about paying attention and focusing on what you’re doing in the present.

It’s about focusing on one thought and one action at a time.

If you’re trying to do the dishes and you’re thinking about the mountain of dirty washing in the laundry,. You will feel breathless, emotionally broken, overwhelmed, anxious, resentful, etc.

By the end of the day, you’re depressed. You may not have finished all you wanted to do. You have spent all your energy overthinking.

You can do this exercise any time of the day when you need it. You should include this therapy as part of your daily routine.

At the beginning, you will need to practice in a quiet place. Mornings while the kids are still asleep are the best time for this exercise.

Start your day with an open mind and clear guidance on what you want to achieve.

This therapy will give you a feeling of being well balanced and calm; hence, doing it in the morning is very important.

Once you know how to do it, you can do it anywhere, even in the middle of the kids’ noise. It shouldn’t affect your concentration.

How To do The Therapy

  1. Find a quiet spot—outside in the garden would be wonderful if possible.
  2.  Sit up straight.
  3. Put your hands on your tummy.
  4. Close your eyes.
  5. Now feel your hands on your tummy (this is to bring your mind to what you are doing now)
  6. With your hands on your tummy, take a deep breath in, with your tummy tugged in as you breathe in. You must feel your hands and your tummy during the breathing moment.
  7. Hold your breath and count to three while your hands are still on your tummy.
  8. Breathe out slowly; feel your tummy come forward as you breathe out.
  9. Repeat the exercise 5 times.

Your hands on your tummy are to warn you if you get distracted. When your mind wonders somewhere else, your body and hands will relax, and your hands will feel that your tummy has relaxed.

Immediately, bring your mind back to your exercise. It’s important to stay with your body as you do the exercise.

It’s all about being present in the present. To feel and be aware of your existence.

As you continue doing this exercise daily, you will notice how your focus and concentration have improved.

The next part of this exercise is to put it to use throughout the day as part of your lifestyle.

This is one of the best things I discovered through my journey with depression as I tried to control my mind and focus on my actions. To be with my mind to find solutions to problems and to live a more present and peaceful lifestyle.

It is best to work on making this therapy a habit. It will mean you will have a more fulfilling and stress-free life for a long time.-
